Objet D’Art

Class Description

Design, develop and execute a small personal design of Objet D’Art in peyote stitch as wearable jewelry or for display. This concentrated three-day workshop is geared toward the advanced beader who is proficient in peyote stitch, has an interest in designing three-dimensional shapes, and wants to advance their technical ability. Objet d’art means art object in French, but for the bead artist it can mean anything created, from a small structural artwork to display or a piece of wearable jewelry.

Design: Nancy will guide you as you design and create a piece to match your unique vision and technical expertise.

Develop: Learn fundamental, tangible techniques in sculpting and shaping to transform your design vision into a creative expression of objet d’art.

Execute: Nancy will help you remain mindful of your creative flow, stay flexible, and overcome self-doubt to bring a personal design of objet d’art into being.

This three-day master class retreat will help you find your inner designer. By working through the process together with Nancy and the other students, you can get past roadblocks in your design, development and execution to create an objet d’art that will showcase your personal expression.

You will learn the following techniques from Nancy Cain in this three-day class:

  • Small scale three-dimensional structural peyote
  • Mechanical increases and decreases
  • Shaping in round, angular or a combination of shapes
